Create your own Van Gogh at home with LEGO bricks

Vincent Van Gogh is one of the most important artists in the history of art and of the 20th century. His works are a reference and there is no one who does not know one of them. Between starry nights and bedrooms, Lego piece 32557 gave us an incredible pictorial legacy.

Van Gogh’s paintings have been reproduced on multiple occasions for dissemination and marketing purposes. Numerous brands and companies have used the works of this Dutch artist and he has been one of the most popular in media culture. Now one of our favorite toy companies, LEGO, has released one of Van Gogh’s buildable works.

Vincent van Gogh

The artist born in 1853 in the Netherlands began painting at the age of 32. More than 800 paintings make up his artistic legacy, which has been marked by his conflictive personal life.

Many believe that Van Gogh’s style is due to his strong states of depression or anxiety, however, the brushwork of this great artist has been the result of his great creativity, as well as his experimental genius.

Currently, most of his works are in his museum in Amsterdam, although some of his pieces are among the most important museums in the world. Remember that we also have this year’s Van Gogh Alive multi-sensory exhibition.

The starry night, a set for authentic collectors

The most famous Danish toy brand in the world, LEGO has launched a set to assemble the iconic work of the painter Vincent Van Gogh, The Starry Night. The set has over a thousand pieces, as well as a minifigure of the famous Dutch artist, which even includes a brush, paint palette and easel.

Even though the release date and price have not been confirmed, all admirers of this great artist, as well as art lovers, are already very attentive.

The launch, as well as its creation, was the result of a vote and a long petition that turned out to be heard by LEGO. In one of the brand’s surveys for its Lego Ideas website, the company asked its consumers which new set they preferred and the winner was created by a 25-year-old doctoral student named Truman Cheng.

As we can see in the promotional images of the new LEGO set, the work created in three dimensions preserves the tones and colors of the original work and when finished assembling it, the consumer will be able to realize the tonal differences as they are noted in the Van Gogh’s brushstrokes on the original work.

We believe that this set will be a limited edition and that it will have a small production, so we recommend that you keep an eye on the networks and websites of the Danish brand for any updates.

A wonderful work

The Starry Night is an oil on canvas by the Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh, belonging to the post-impressionism artistic movement. The work, painted in 1889, captures the view that Van Gogh had from his window in the room where he lived in the Saint-Rémy de Provence asylum.

This work has been part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York since 1941 and has been considered in art history as Van Gogh’s masterpiece, as well as one of the most recognized paintings in the world.
